TLDR - a label only clip device in edit mode, with option to make clip name in deck view. Alternatively, modify text creator to bypass output and allow labelling of text laser clips ( without the laser output of text)
I’m after having a text only device for use in clip-edit mode to help organize a little better, less memory requirement on my brains part, and to assist for bigger clips ( section number and delay beat counts) or default device settings. The way I programmed my DMX lights - see picture - worked with clip devices besides them (color, gobo, strobe x 4 fixtures). I may test out some pro lighting fixtures with a high channel count and in the near future. It would be a lot easier than using the clip art from existing devices. If there was option turn one into a Clip label for deck view, that’d be great. I’d like it to not affect the beam output if you have a look on that clip.
Alternatively, the text creator works fine for labeling sections, effects, page, lists etc. Can’t use it in edit mode as a label.
With laser’s, you have to mute the text creator if you have a look behind it, despite wanting the label still.
Interestingly with DMX, I’d just add a dot clip to build my look from and it didn’t mess up the text portion. The TIG clip had a full look when triggered.
