Your clips wanted!

Hi everyone! I’m working towards a new build, and I wondered if any of you might be up for offering some of your clips for inclusion in the default clip deck?

Share them as a reply to this message (you should be able to attach .cpdk clip deck files) or PM me if you prefer!

Thanks in advance,

Seb

A post was split to a new topic: Selectively import clips from file

You can drag a lasso around the clips you want to export and then select File->Clips->Export Selected

More in the user guide :

cheers!

Good to know. However this doesn’t help when importing someone else’s full clip deck and only importing the one you like.

Just an idea to add to the ideas list.

Open up timeline. Click the + button to add the clips you want to cherry pick. Let them stack into each other. It doesn’t matter. When you want to separate the keepers, open up the TIMELINE SELECTION and click ORGANIZE CLIPS BY TIMELINE. They will be added to the end of your clip deck. If you want to make a new deck of these - export selected clips from the menu.

I’d like to make a master collection akin to a music collection. Use this technique when you want to create a set, or want to craft some stuff with the first steps complete for further design.

Here is my toss-in to the pile.

E2TS Shared Clip Deck.cpdk (1.3 MB)

Most of these clips are dated - no parameters device added into them except a dmx clip for one of my fixtures in there. Just wanted to show how I use them. There is no formal organization. May be a duplicate or two. Some of them are a/b clips that are meant to play with each other. I suggest using the technique from my last post in this thread to sort them, if there are any worth keeping / studying.

The first 12 clips are meant to be a midi trigger template for the send/receive system. Sharps are group 2. While this type of layout on screen may be a bit counter-intuive, if you have a midi piano, you can use the sharps as mini grouping.

Here are some of my clips.
Most of them are using chase or delays, so you should put at least 6 projectors in the visualiser.
Pastel color ones required a bit of calibration on my lasers, had to draw a kind of s-curve, otherwise the fade between white and full color was abrupt.

Thanks everyone for your donations!

I’ve selected the best ones and added them into the latest default project file for 0.9.9 build 8.

I’ve also cleaned them up a little and I thought the clean up process might be interesting so I screen recorded it :

And the new clip credit system means that your name is included (right click on a clip to see it).

As I mentioned in the previous post, if you’ve already installed an earlier 0.9.9 build, you’ll need to delete your working file to see the new stuff.

Mac : /Library/Application Support/Liberation/0.9.9
Windows : \AppData\Local\Liberation\0.9.9

cheers!

Ah that video was popular! Here’s another one, this time refining one of @Afturmath’s gorgeous pride flag clips.

No way, I totally missed this post!
Such a honour to see Seb optimising the clips, that was awesome, thank you

Seb, waiting for the Part 3 :sweat_smile:

ah there wasn’t anything that interesting with the optimisation in the rest of the clips (just basic tidying up node positions) so it wasn’t worth recording!

Not sure if this has already been mentioned somewhere. But I think at some point in the future it would be nice to have a Liberation Cloud feature where people can share, rate etc. their clips. Similar to Pangolin Cloud. I can even imagine that you can purchase sets of clips there.

2nd’ing Michael’s comment above!

I also think that’s a great idea, but only when the software itself has matured to it’s full 1.0 version… I’d hate for energy to be taken away from the main software.
Perhaps it’s a thing that someone else could develop?

I’d definitely like to eventually build a proper online system for sharing clips and content - something a bit like Printables, where people can upload, browse, rate, and remix each other’s work. But it’s a huge amount of work to do well, and right now it’s not a high priority compared to core software development.

In the meantime, this forum is the place to share content. Feel free to post your clips, screenshots, short videos, and anything else you’ve made.

I’m not particularly into the idea of a marketplace where people buy and sell stuff - especially if that means I’d need to add DRM or extra infrastructure to protect paid content (which I’m probably never going to do). I’d much rather build a culture where people donate cool stuff to the project and share freely.

Once we get more successful, I’d definitely be up for rewarding people whose work ends up featured in the default or example projects - whether that’s with recognition, a free subscription, or something else.

Thanks so much for all the enthusiasm and ideas - it really does mean a lot. Liberation is still growing, and it’s incredibly motivating to see people thinking ahead and imagining what it could become. Please do keep sharing your thoughts and your work - it’s a big part of what will shape the future of this project.
