@seb - It’s a pleasure to officially meet you here on the Lib forum. I’ve been in the industry for about a decade, but on the marketing side, I’ve been working internally for festivals and venues. I have LD friends, most of whom are not doing lasers, but have access to Beyond. I’ve had a true fascination with lasers since I experienced my first green liquid sky back in 2004, and have been mesmerized, faced, and so much more with an excessive amount of lasers. I grew up in Fort Collins, Colorado, and was blessed with some pretty sweet spectacles. If you’ve never seen The Disco Biscuits, I highly recommend it for the laser show. They tease out their lasers and LEDs for the perfect amount of time. I’d share the links if I could… As long as posts have to be verified before being posted publicly, allow some links to be shared? Just trying to show laser shows…
I grew up on techno and trance and have continued to love the evolution of electronic music…
So I decided to pursue playing with lasers just four months ago. I quickly figured out Pangolin is the industry standard, but I couldn’t stand looking at that old-school interface that makes even the best clips look like something outta Windows Paint. I found your platform and have not looked back (despite having to basically teach AI how Liberation works, wasting hours upon hours on incorrect instructions from the AI, and a big learning curve in understanding all the complexities and fundamentals). I was mindblown at how many professional full-time LDs didn’t actually know lasers. When I asked if they would come by to show me the ropes, almost everyone said that they were down to come play, but they’d just be asking AI how to do things…
I had already watched all of your YouTube videos 3-4 times. I finally read the entire Liberation user manual twice. I provided all content-rich links of the user manual to my Claude Max account. I wasted the most time on ChatGPT Pro.
I.CAN.NOT.FREAKING.WAIT! - For all the things! More video tutorials! Liberation timeline files! project files! and clip sharing!!!
I’ve spent well over 120 hours in the past four months getting Liberation to a place where I really understand it, appreciate it, and have learned how to manipulate it. I LOVE the clips included in the deck, but I kept finding a void in the available beams. I finally watched your bit on syncing up the tempo, which helped me get over one of my main gripes about Liberation. However, I still keep seeing living room laser short videos of 2-5 lasers going bananas with beams/points in all sorts of ways, exactly to the tempo. I’m just stuck on the timeline and missing a feature to switch beam clips second after second, perfectly in sync with the tempo? I’ve read and watched everything available, but I can’t create some of the things I’ve seen other users make…
So crazy long story short- some timelines and project files with extended clip decks would be so amazing to have access to to continue my learning. I really, really, really don’t want to switch software, DACs, etc.
FYI: I’m running China’s finest… 2x 15W 40kkps YUER lasers on the side back corners of my living area, projecting 32 feet straight into my dining room, which has become a bare room with a flat wall canvas. 22 feet from the wall in the middle of the room is a 12W SHEHDS Constillaser… And who knows what’s to come.. And my blank canvas is 12feet wide by 8 feet tall… I have a legit haze machine, legit beam-splitter haze juice, and I am using the APC40 MKII to my fullest capabilities. Subscribed to your highest subscription level, Liberation Pro 8… And currently using 1.0.3 (5). My lasers are mapped, and I’ve gotten pretty into editing or creating clips from scratch, as well as creating timelines with the clips I have…
I just need guidance or examples on how to make clips change so fast, so in sync, and so professionally, like I have seen others do using Liberation.
Eagerly awaiting these files you mentioned!
Thank you @seb - I love your mindset. I am all about sharing knowledge and helping each other out!
One last question- I found out just how handy a 49” 32:9 monitor is when using Liberation. Between the timeline and the clip editor, it’s a dream!…… ughhhh I just realized the likely answer to my question… I wanted to show more clips horizontally, or maybe even make more groups… but I’m guessing that would interfere with the APC40 interface??? Maybe having developer mode and live show mode could be a possibility for the future to increase productivity during clip and timeline creation, without controller constraints? And then be able to switch back to how things are now for when the APC40 MKII needs to be hooked up?
