Getting started questions

My 0 cents, so couple of hours under my belt with the software and I did not read any of the documentation or the intro video you sent - that’ll have to happen a bit later.

Pretty much the only thing that I ran into was how to copy the zone for all four lasers, I had to manually drag with mouse for each 4 of them. If this is explained in the manual, then of course not worth a FAQ entry but maybe it could be slightly more intuitive with e.g. copy pasta or some kinda link laser zones that can be found on the UI without opening the manual.

Hope this doesn’t exist as well ahaha, but some test pattern that would scan the edges of the zone would be super awesome while modifying it. This probably exists but again I didn’t find without the manual.

Yes I know it’s crazy to start using this complex software without reading one bit but I didn’t have time and needed laser output asap in a studio/lab setting - hence blindly click ‘n’ play.

Super nice that even without any kind of prelearing, I could demo the system to folks that do not know much about laser systems and they were super happy and basically booked me for a gig already. =D This is mostly thanks to the built-in clips so thank you for creating those! Of course I’m going to create my own as I want to create a unique look with my work.

Two other things that I could not figure out intuitively.

  • The default project had 8 lasers, I only have 4 so some clips that had a chase built into them ran over the 4 lasers nice but continued running on the other 4 that I do not have and I did not find out right away how to “stretch” the time to cover the whole sequence for only 4 lasers.

  • I would sometimes want to change the clip on every beat so how can I create 4 clips that change according to tempo/kick? Again, probably explained in the manual but something that could be more easy to figure out in the UI directly.

I’ll write more after reading all the docs etc. So these might not be worth FAQ entries if they are already explained in the manual.

Moving to a new thread as these aren’t so much FAQ requests as much as more general getting started support

You can copy zones between lasers (and other laser settings - this is really useful for when you have 50 lasers set up, ask me how I know haha)

There are several test patterns, including one that scans the entire output of the zone. Unless I’m missing something?

See Setting up your project and Adding and removing lasers

You mean a different clip for every beat? Probably the only way to do this right now is with a looping timeline. Or there are ways to design a clip so that it changes radically every beat. See the thread Autoplay clips

Thanks so much for your feedback, it’s a very useful insight. I’m glad you could get so far without reading the manual, but probably worth checking out some of those resources now to get the most out of it.
