If I were to use already-in-use terminology, I’d say the request is for (group) ‘Solo” & “Flash Solo” (k…I think flash solo would be awesome).
I love the convenience of a one-button/click feature, but sometime reworking the idea a little yields near identical output (and possibly better). Seeing as a you are a lighting guy, consider setting up an old school lighting busk layout where each group has its own separate intensity-only fader. This way you can say manually fade look #1 at the end of bar 3…leave 1.5 seconds of space and then slam something from group 2 in via fader.The second group clip can be running already before you raise the fader.
