I have 4 Yuer 15W lasers, all the same. Not top-of-the-line. With DMX control, the brightness is brutal at 100%, but if I use it with ILDA control, with a standard ILDA cable, the brightness is noticeably lower. 70%
Does anyone have experience with this?
Is it possible to increase the brightness with ILDA control?
The brightness is 100% with both the controller settings and the laser outputs.
Or is the laser hardware at fault?
This feeling is also on my side with Helios controller. When I’m running demo from laser it self, all is soooo smoth and bright… this can be also implementation of the ilda board in the laser it self…don’t have any hw measurement tool to confirm this though. Maybe color mixing, they mostly use prime colors on full with the mix in between. Who knows. What I can confirm is that when I insert the ilda cable in the laser during the demo, then the framers drops significantly.
i have made multiple test between two lasers and i can confirm from mi experience that there is no brightness decline in output when used ilda and helios . It is only about the choice of colors from the manufacturer . I have done test on two lasers of the same type and power (10Watt), where one was running thru dmx and second was running thru ilda with reproduced patterns (according the one running from dmx connection) in liberation and lasershowgen (DAC helios).
If you’re ever unsure in future the way to know for certain is to output full white - leave the shutter closed! - and measure the voltage going to each of the the laser drivers, R,G,B. They’re usually 0-5V where 5V should be maximum brightness (or just measure the output directly at the ILDA cable).
I tested the 4 Helios, 4 lasers and the cables.
I also measured the voltage and the problem was the spike on one of the cables.
It moved a little, I didn’t think it was that sensitive.
Thanks Robert for the test!
Thanks Seb for the advice!
