Buying lasers -damage control

Pulled the trigger on the remaining heads for my present future setup. I asked OPT for rj ports initially - was told DMX needed to come out to accommodate LAN. I was hesitant to mention etherdream initially. I mentioned installing ED to a difference company and they ghosted me after, Bizarre. Regardless, when I did tell OPT, she clarified, suggested fb4 model/ housing. Awesome! Told I would like ILDA and DMX too, if possible. No mention that it wasn’t. Waiting to hear back. Ugh…

After a re-read of emails, I was notified that fb4 model does not come with ILDA or Dmx as fb4 has their own that is slightly different. On arrival, it came as a surprise. The photo above this information showed a photo of exactly what I expected/wanted. Despite mentioning throughout the chain that I wanted ILDA, I could have used a reminder that projector will come bare bones. Anyways, just a heads up to anyone possibly looking into buying. I’m sure once ed is in them I’ll be singing a much happier song.

im just guessing a bit here, but i think the models need a (dmx) showcard to support ILDA in, but if you go the ED4 with stanwax switch route you could add the ilda ports yourself…

tbh this is the version i would buy :stuck_out_tongue:

Always a bit hit and miss with the language barrier! I have two of these lasers as well and haven’t quite figured out where to put the Ether Dream yet… let me know how you get along! (I don’t think I have the DMX blank panels though)

Here is the information I received. My plan was/is to use ED externally in the short term. I have 4x ED and 4 x Helios and was going to use ED externally until install. Bit of a setback. I was told the 10w units have larger housing and would be great for ED install except I think upgrade from 8-10w is like $300 usd per head and not like $30 for 2w upgrade increments. Different power components or something. I would have had to reduce my heads from 5-3 with my budget.
