Ether Dream 3 way switch for Liberation

Ive just made a short video with an overview of my Etherdream switch. This allows you to buld an etherdream into a laser projector and have it co-habit with a legacy controller while still allowing ILDA input. It auto switches between contollers and piggy backs on top of an Etherdream 3 or 4 - watch the video for info
I am currently only providing this so I can convert projectors for clients but if theres interest I may make it available for general sale.

I would love to get one of these

Where are you based out of? I’m interested in having 4x TMAX 17w lasers converted

@Stanwax is based in the UK, specifically Wales. I think you’re in the US?

Seb

That I am! Oh well, not a huge priority for me right now. Just getting away from Unity stuff

any reason why you’re choosing a different route?

I wasn’t that impressed, I know the Elite Pro line is impressive but the price is insane. Lightspace is killing it right now, and I don’t care for an FB4 so that is more competitive. I’m also giving consideration to TMAX, similar to OPT or other chinese manufacturers for non varianced needs.

Any plans to start selling them? Would be interested in 4 depending on cost.

Hi Charles
It was intended to be something that I used when doing conversions myself, however there has been some interest in them. Without wishing to sound condecending to any potential user/customer my biggest fear with something like this is the competency of the user and me having to support installations where someone over estimates their abilities. That said its reasonably straight forward in terms of fitting, but it does somewhat depend on the laser its being fitted to and how its wired and therefore how much modification of the wiring is required. If you let me know what you intend fitting it to I may have a better idea of whats needed.
I am running low on the ones I have and some for an upcoming installation, once this is done iwill likely see what demand is like and make some more. If so I would probs be up for selling

if anyone else reads this and is interested in this as a product please make your interest known so it will help understand how much interest there actually is

I’m looking to add them internally to two lasers, but I’ll probably get you to do that for me

im currently testing a ed4 on loan, but if i do decide on one i really want the switch on there too, and im happy to build myself

after that i might have to convert some more projectors…

by the way, anyone interested in 3d print files for a external case i designed?

There is already a thread where a ED4 case and holder STL filed are in

haha i missed that one, yeah mine is pretty much the same i guess :stuck_out_tongue:

I would buy 6 or 7 of the 3-way switches if they were generally available. I’m trying to convert my Opt PD3 and PR10 models to internal ED4 while maintaining ILDA input, but I made the mistake of buying the DMX versions.

OK I have some news.
I have decided to offer these boards for your delight and on that basis I have placed an order for some boards to be made . However there is a twist….
I have decided to make two versions of the ED daughterboard.

Version one is the same as the one I have been using for my own installations, it will switch between ILDA,FB4 (or other controller) annd Etherdream
Version two is the same form factor (ie a daugher board that fits on the Etherdream) but without the 3rd controller facility, so its for instances when you just need Etherdream fitted internally but wish to keep the ILDA input option - it will switch seamlessly between the two.

They will not be avialble for 10-14 days (literally just ordered about 5 mins ago) and I will announce here once I have them in hand and have them finished & tested.

Price to be announced at the time of release

I would take 2 of price is reasonable :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

It will be
I need to order in the additional parts and it depends on the cost of these. As soon as I know it will be announced

to quote a scary film….ā€they’re hereā€

Arrived at lunchtime today both versions ILDA/ED or ILDA/ED/Legacy controller
I have built one of each and tested and all appears to be working correctly. I have an order of connectors that needs to arrive before I can make these available but expect it to happen in the next 4-5 days. In the mean time I need to photograph them and make some documentation (not that anyone will read it)
I also need to decide what I will include in the ā€˜kit’ or if I put some options in as extras.
This is the first place any information will appear

Ive added the boards to my shop under the same category as the Etherdreams - no stock currently until I have the connectors arrive.
For the 3 way board I have ordered some leads that can be used to connect the FB4 to the connectors on board, (Nobody wants to have to crimp those fiddly little buggers) they will take some time to arrive however and will be added to the listing as soon as I have them.

Prices will be £49 inc VAT for the 3 way switch and £42 inc VAT for the ILDA version.
So the price will be £40.83 and £35 if you are not in the UK.
The ILDA input & its ribbon cable will be included the only option being a connectors kit for the JSTs on board
