I mostly do beam/EDM shows, but I received a request to outline a building and create a candy cane for a christmas carnival. I know how to do segemented beam maps, but how would you go about create the candy cane portion with some basic movement (wooshing across or slow chase?)
Weirdly I can’t see that image (“not available in your region”!) but there are a couple of options for this.
For a candy cane probably the best option is to use the line/curve zone and just map the zone around the cane shape. Use the “manually adjust bezier curves” option to give you full control of the shape. (You might need to practice adjusting control points if you don’t have much experience in Inkscape / Illustrator)
If you now make a clip that is a vertical line moving left to right, it will chase along the candy cane shape.
The other option would be to create an SVG shape of the candy cane, and then perspective correct the zone onto real life. But you would probably want to add a lot of zone masks to make sure content doesn’t go outside the cane area.
Hope that makes sense but feel free to ask if you need more clarification.
