Looking for some help with DMX in Liberation. I have bought 4 x DMX 5W Starburts lasers. I have connected 1 x Electroconcepts Art net NODE to the Mac via a USB-C to RJ45 adapter, a router, and a network switch, showing as connected in settings. The Node is connected to Starburts via DMX cable, set to DMX Address 001 on Starburts
Node is set to DHCP, as my Lasers are all set to DHCP and work fine
Liberation, I have added DMX ZONE 1 with Node 1, Universe 0, Address 1. It has been AREMED. When I activate a clip, I get no response from the Starburst. I have also tried the default and Starburst settings. This test setup, I am using 1 x Laser connected to the network, working ok
and 1 x Starburst DMX connected to the Node and the Node is connected to the same network as Starbust. Not triggering any help welcome is there. Are there any Videos on DMX setups from previous streams from Seb
DMX zones are unfortunately one of the trickiest things to troubleshoot, because there is no feedback at all. Liberation is simply sending Art-Net packets and has no way of knowing whether anything downstream is listening or responding.
On top of that, I do not personally use that specific node, and there are a lot of variables involved here: Art-Net universe numbering, IP mode, DMX personality on the fixture, channel mapping, and how the node handles DHCP and routing.
The first step is to verify the hardware chain independently of Liberation. I strongly recommend using a simple Art-Net application to confirm that:
The node is receiving Art-Net
The node is outputting DMX
The Starburst responds correctly to known-good DMX data
I have heard that DMX Workshop and QLC+ are commonly used for this, although I do not use them myself.
Once you have confirmed that your hardware setup works correctly with another application, we can then look specifically at the Liberation configuration. Without that baseline, we are effectively guessing. I can offer support on the Liberation side, but I need to know the hardware chain is working first.
Great, it’s always helpful to have multiple units when troubleshooting. Once you have confirmed that it works correctly with another Art-Net application, let me know and I can help with the Liberation side.
