Hi, Ive looked at the forums and im a little confused about controlling DMX lights. My wife wants to control the laser and par cans at once. From what I can see this software can do that, correct?
If so I have a ENTTEC Dmx USB Pro, can it use that? If so I cant see where to select the device in the software.
Liberation uses Art-Net, so you’ll need an Art-Net node rather than a USB DMX interface. I recommend the Showtec Net-2/3 (or Net-2/5 if you prefer 5-pin DMX). There are cheaper Chinese options around too, but I haven’t personally tested those.
Once you have your Art-Net device connected, just:
Enter its IP address in the Art-Net settings panel.
Set up your lighting fixture profile in the DMX Zones panel.
From there, you can send any clip to your DMX fixture, and it’ll interpret the clip’s content into DMX channels - RGB for simple lights like PAR cans, and position or movement data for moving heads.
Let me know if you have any more questions or if I can help more,
After digging around in the interface last night I gathered it wouldnt output USB. So I got my friendly AI agent to create an Art-net to USB converter in python.
I’ll tidy it up and do some docs. Ive got it outputting to multi RGB lights via USB and accepts midi input. Currently using a Korg nanoKONTROL2 to trigger blackouts, and master / individual light brightness. The Artnet sync with Liberation works really well.
@seb Im trying to get this play nicely with MacOS and PS’s and ive been Jumping between them with De-authorising / Aurthorising on a few PC’s/Mac’s. Will i get flageged for dodgy behavour?
No worries at all - you won’t get flagged for anything dodgy; It’s totally fine to switch between Mac and PC and to de-authorise / re-authorise as needed.
