Hi Gitle, just to confirm, if the Pro is connected to a PC using usb a to usb c cable, it should work the same as the regular Helios DAC’s?
I was also wondering about the frame rate for the Pro. Can the improved max frame rate be achieved via both USB and Ethernet? (obviously, depending on the signal being sent from the control software).
Actually, just tried testing, and while it should work in theory, it seems like it is actually not working right now. Something must be off, me and Seb and trying to figure it out.
As for the specs, when using USB the limits like scan rate etc is the same as on the regular Helios. Only the network connection protocol has support for higher resolution and speeds.
Can I get some clarification here. First time set-up and it’s been 30 years since I touched a laser so this is all new to me. Can get HeliosPro to connect via hub, but can’t get a green light to arm… Any advice would be appreciated. Did I miss a setting somewhere. Videos from Web suggests the connection is immediate if the software is talking to the hardware. Or is this an issue as the thread suggests…
Thanks for the reply. Downloaded the new build and it seems to now work, but I still have no output via ILDA. This is a new project and first purchase for me, so I don’t know if it’s a projector issue or a software/ hardware issue. Possible settings on the projector interface maybe? Any direction would be super helpful. Bought from Gaga at the LDI tradewhow in Vegas. They say it may be a “compatibility issue” as they usually push the FB3/4 option. Not sure if they tested with ILDA connections, as the video they sent before shipping shows an Ilda cord and DMX between the two. I’ll include the video (if it loads) in case anyone cam point me in the right direction.
@David_Carpenter You could try using the DAC with other software just to check if that works, would rule out whether the problem is with the DAC/laser, or the software/settings.
Hey @Gitle_Mikkelsen - could this be the same issue I’m seeing with my Helios Pro?
@David_Carpenter, from what I can see in your screenshots it looks like things are broadly set up correctly (although it’s hard to be 100% certain there isn’t some obscure hardware or signal issue involved)
It would be really useful if you could grab a copy of Gitle’s LaserShowGen. I believe the free version should be enough for testing. If it works over IDN but not over USB, then it’s very likely the same Helios Pro issue I’m experiencing here. If that turns out to be the case, hopefully Gitle can help investigate further.
I had some success with LaserShowGen with an Ethernet connection but not USB. Couldn’t get USB to output via ILDA in Modulaser as well as Liberation. Ordered an original Helios DAC (broke my 15 year ban onAmazon rule) so I can try and get Liberation to work. At least I know it’s not the projector. Exciting first projection!
Once the kinks get worked out, these new DACs will be great.
Hey @David_Carpenter, definitely the same issue that I have - I believe there’s some kind of firmware upgrade that can fix it, hopefully @Gitle_Mikkelsen can help.
Hi guys, I’m in contact with users like David through email but I thought I’d post a general update here in case it is relevant to others as well. Multiple people have reported something similar (USB failing but network connection working), so there seems to be a general issue with the devices. It is very strange since I tested that USB connectivity works fine for me on all the units before sending them out. I am trying to troubleshoot it but I don’t have a solution quite yet.
Rest assured that if no solution can be found then of course any users that needed the USB functionality have the option to return their device for a full refund.
Update: A new firmware version has been released with a hot-fix for the people who were unable to get output to work using the HeliosPRO with USB connection in Liberation. If you are affected, you can update the firmware using the Manager Tool software: HeliosPRO user manual – Bitlasers
Huge Thanks for troubleshooting that in a timely manner. Your instructions for the firmware update was very straightforward and it was exciting to fire these up finally! Got both HeliosPro DACS running Liberation via USB.
