is there a way to have clip only show when the button is held down? right now if i press the button the clip turns on, and doesnt turn off until i press the button again.

You can set the clip to flash mode in the group setting.

is there a way to select all the clips on the screen, or all the clips in the entire project, and turn them all to flash mode in one click. or do i need to change each one individually to flash mode
you do it per group, so once for each color of clips

Yes, @mrfloppy88 is right, Flash mode is a property of the group, right click on the group button and toggle it on, and then all clips in that group will be set to Flash mode. By default, clip group 3 (the red one) is set to Flash mode so it’s a good convention to use that group for any clips that you want to flash.
