Take over from timeline

I love this new button.

I’m wondering if it makes sense to keep track of the tempo source when it’s not on timeline, which when using the timeline must be set to “timeline” … so that when this button is pressed, it could go back to whatever was set before. Otherwise, you have to hit the button and select the correct new tempo. We’re always using the AbletonLink tempo source (again when not using the timeline), and it’d be nice to have the button switch back to AbletonLink (or whatever is in use) before the timeline button got pressed.

(Also, should the timeline button enable the “timeline” tempo source automagically? We’ve had to troubleshoot why the timeline was behaving wierd when it was set otherwise.)

Thanks for adding this button, in any case.

Hey @EricWatkins glad you like it!

I’m not sure - I think it can only seamlessly go to a tempo source that I have full control over, otherwise it might not be in sync with the timeline - right ?

Maybe! But there are times when I want to run the timeline in live mode. Or MIDI Clock. Perhaps it’s something I should make configurable? Not sure, I’ll think about it.

Thanks for the feedback!

Seb

If we’ve pressed the “takeover from timeline” we’re doing our own thing and pressing our own buttons at that point, right? In that case, we want the live music, and temp being input from a 3rd party software to be active, instead of the timeline, in my view.
