Is there a way to switch individual beams on and off using MIDI?
Also, can the visualiser show lasers that are looped on the ILDA thru connector that will not have a separate beam?
Thanks

Hi Mike!
Yes, there are two ways you can do this with MIDI in Liberation, depending on how you prefer to work:
1. Using the MIDI Notes node
In the Node Editor, you can use a MIDI Notes node. It’s designed for “laser harp” style effects – pressing a key or pad turns a beam on, releasing it turns it off. Super fun and very direct. More here:
2. Using the MIDI Send / Receive system
This was originally designed to record and play back a performance with an external DAW, but you can also use it to trigger clips based on MIDI notes. The note mapping is fixed, but if you want a different layout you can remap it with a tool like Bome MIDI Translator or Chetagne. More here:
On your other question - I’ve made the decision not to support or encourage daisy chaining in Liberation. Back when controllers cost over £1000 each it was a useful workaround, but these days it’s much safer and gives you far more creative flexibility to connect each laser to its own controller. That way you can make the most of features like zone delay, chases and flexible mirroring.
The visualiser shows a one-to-one match with your outputs. If two lasers are daisy chained from the same controller output, you’ll see the single output in the visualiser rather than separate beams.
Hope this helps!

Thanks Seb. I will experiment with both ways.
what i would do to mimic daisy chained devices is add virtual lasers in the list that are not connected to a DAC, it does take a bit more to setup (all clips need to have this laser turned on in output)
this will however mess with chases… if you use those
