Stuart Hall introduction

HI Every one I have just seen that there is an introduction section, so here is mine.

I was facinated by lasers at school which I left in 1977, and yes I was around when Noah and I got off the Ark. My first introduction to lasers in entertainment was at the Genesis at Knebworth Park featival in 1978. I got to meet Freddie Bannister the promoter the day before the concert as the stage rig was being finished. We chatted about the events I had worked on at my University and he must have decided I was safe and sane as he gave me an Access All Areas pass for the event and a car park pass for the event day which was a real bonus. To cut a long story short I met the Laser Crew from California and they showed me what they had a 10 watt argon ion laser from Coherent and a pair of G100PD scanners coupled up to a Heath Robinson control desk. I got to see the line up and rig of the machine on the Friday night and then saw it as a punter on the Saturday, and then as they say I was hooked. I soon moved on to a 0.5 mW He Ne from Maplins, and then quickly on to a seven mW He Ne from Spectra Physics in Hemal Hempstead. I was probably the only customer to arrive at there door with cash and walk away with a shiney new laser tube. I then moved on to a Coherent model 54 argon laser which I bought second hand from the optics lab at Imperial College. Then a very special laser from Liconix arrived brnd new, a 6 watt argon laser that ran with a closed loop cooling system and ran of a single phase 32A socket, of a 13A socket it could do two and a half watts and with a pair of G1120PD scaanners it was seen at raves all over the UK. I had 2 Laserpoint Aquarius 3 3D controllers that were the top of the range at the time and we did a tour with Cliff Richard with 2 Liconix lasers. Next came our biggest event Jean Michelle Jarre at Destination Docklands working for Laserpoint. After that my main employment took over and I went working in the Middle East doing Programme Director work on Fibreoptic networks and then fibre to the premisis for twenty years. I returned to the UK in 2020 and started to mix my telecomms work with event lasers along with fireworks, sound and lights. I have recently bought into Liberation running on an iMac and using Etherdream DACS. I am currently working out how Liberation works for us with 8 x 8 watt Lasers and 16 x 15 watt lasers.

So thats me in a nutshell, glad to be here with the new spear head of entertainmnet laserists. I hope to meet many of you on sites over the next few years!

Best regards Laser Stu
