Hi. I’m Eric and I hail from Wisconsin, USA… a place called Chippewa Falls. I’m a software developer and ex-raver turned fortysomething raver with a background in classical music performance and interests in improvisational control of immersive environments.
I’m not a professional laserist, I just love hacking and making awesome things. I do a handful of shows each year and maybe one day I’ll come up even on my investment.
I never really thought about lasers much until I was at an event a couple years ago where a friend was running one and wouldn’t let me play with it. Since then I bought one, and bought another because just one seemed lonely. Then it felt like two was just compensating for having one, so I got a third. That wasn’t symmetrical so I bought a fourth one. I found a great deal on ebay for another one… and again that wasn’t symmetrical so now I currently have 6x 6w all Chinese. ATM I am invested in Showtacle products, but I’m super unclear about the post Pangolin acquisition future, so I’m switching out my DACs for Helios.
Already, just as it is, Liberation fills many gaps I’ve felt wanting to achieve certain results. Once upon a time I was actually going to write my own laser software, but it’s a lot of effort and challenging math to do it well… and instead I’m focusing on an ArtNet step sequencer.
