MIDI network issues

I want to use Ableton on one Mac and Liberation on another. I successfully created a MIDI network session and both Mac’s are talking to each other.

Liberation has the network session selected as its Midi in device and it receives tempo and start/stop fine but it won’t trigger the clips using note on/off. Ableton’s MIDI To is selected to the network session on each MIDI channel but it just won’t trigger the clips!

FIXED!
Sorry pilot error. Had to adjust the settings menu in view - Midi Send / Receive

Hi Mike,

Glad you figured it out!

Just to clarify, there are a few different places to set MIDI interfaces in Liberation:

  • MIDI Input system – used for clips that contain the MIDI Notes node. You can find this in Liberation → Settings.
  • MIDI Clock sync – used for syncing to an external MIDI clock. These settings are in the Tempo Panel when you select MIDI as the tempo source.
  • MIDI Send / Receive – a legacy system. It’s not really supported anymore now that we have timelines, but some people still use it for custom MIDI control. You can access it via View → MIDI Send Receive.

Also coming soon: MIDI Timecode sync for the timeline.

Hope that helps!

Seb
