Liberation news and updates November 2024

Hi everyone!

Big news this month - Build 0.7.2 is now available for testing, (Mac only for now but I’ll be firing up the Windows machine next week - wish me luck on that)

NOTE - this is not production ready! Do not use on shows! It’s just for testing and feedback!

The big new things :

Major timeline improvements :

  • Drag and drop from clip deck (both for adding clips and for replacing existing clips)
  • Improved dragging visuals (no red box any more!)
  • Manual track placement - no more confusing auto-arranging!
  • Click / drag to change start or end of clips
  • Improved snapping
  • Undo / redo(!)
  • Multiple timelines! Set up your whole set in advance and play back song by song.
  • Timecode sync! LTC SMPTE timecode can be received via any standard audio interface.
  • Auto selection of timeline dependent on timecode position - multiple songs throughout a set will auto select and run
  • Can use timeline with LIVE tempo - so you can start and manually sync tempo on shows that don’t use timecode

Timing refactor - see previous post - please test live tempo, tap tempo, and NEW nudge tempo features.

Improved import / export
Timelines now also save their clips with them. So when you import a timeline you have a lot of options as to how to load in their associated clips. And I’ve reworked a lot of the other import export features. Needs testing!

MIDI / sound input
For those of you wondering how the sound input oscillator and the MIDI notes effector was supposed to work, I’ve now properly implemented it. MIDI / sound source is now selectable in the App Settings dialog.

Interface Scaling
Also in the App Settings dialog is an experimental interface scaling setting. It seems mostly OK but let me know how it works for you. (It’s complex so will likely be some edge cases I miss)

There are a million other improvements and fixes along the way, too numerous to outline here, but download it and kick its tyres, let me know how you get along!

3 posts were split to a new topic: Build 0.7.2 OS compatibility?

Liberation 0.7.2 Build 5 is now available for testing on your download page. Please replace your other 0.7.2 builds with this - it’s more stable. Thanks!
