Laser cube flickering with liberation software

Hello! I’m pretty much a novice at this and I only have a 2.5w lasercube pro that I use at home for the moment. I’ve been having issues with the lasers flickering when using the liberation software. I did have it on a labtop and it worked perfectly fine with no issues. Then I switched the authorization to my main computer at home. Every since then when I would try to project a beam of any kind, from sine waves to just a dot the laser now flickers. I’m thinking of switching the authorization back to my labtop and see if that changes anything, but yeah thats the issue im facing now. It works fine on laserOS or quickshow but for some reason flickers only when using liberation.

UPDATE: It does start to work normally as intended when I switched back to my labtop. Which I find weird?

Hi Antonio - welcome to the forum, and thanks so much for giving Liberation a try!

Just to check - when you say the laser “flickers", I’m guessing you mean the output sometimes stops or cuts out? If that’s the case, it’s almost always a network setup issue, and it’s something we can usually solve pretty easily.

A couple of things to make sure of:

  1. Liberation is designed for low-latency output and doesn’t officially support Wi-Fi. Your computer should be connected via wired Ethernet - Wi-Fi often causes flickering or unreliable output.

  2. You’ll need a router on the network, and the LaserCube should be in Client Mode. Both your computer and the LaserCube should be plugged into that router via Ethernet.

Some people have managed to connect directly to a computer with the LaserCube in Server Mode, but I haven’t had much luck with that myself - so it’s not a setup I officially support.

If everything’s wired and set up correctly but the issue persists, it might also be a performance issue, especially if the desktop is a bit older or slower. If you let me know what computers you’re using (model/specs), I’d be happy to help troubleshoot further.

Let us know how you get on - happy to help!
