Hello, I’d love to learn more about how to use the timeline.
How do I go about deleting things from it? I added several clips in the wrong place and want to remove them. (I’m using the windows build, I see a “+” icon to add things, but there doesn’t appear to be any UI for deleting things, unless I’m missing it, or it’s some super secret hidden keystroke.
Also how do I move things around? Thanks for adding this feature!
ok, so using the timeline window, instead of the lower UI component, I was able to uncheck “lock timeline” and enable the delete/move functionality.
Now I’m a bit confused by the timebase that the timeline is using. I’m trying to learn how to sync the timeline/laser show with a recorded video, I’m pushing play on both the timeline and the video at the same time, when the video gets to 43 seconds the white lasers come on, and then I’m hitting stop in the timeline gui and adding a white laser clip.
The issue I’m having is that the timeline is on second 12 and the video itself is on second 43. How do I go about syncing the timeline with realtime so that I can sync the timeline with the video?
USUAL CAVEATS APPLY The timeline is experimental and the interface WILL CHANGE. I’ve included it in the recent build so you have see where I’m going and as a functional test.
The timeline (as with all of Liberation) does not currently use absolute time in seconds and minutes. Instead, it uses music time in beats per minute and the display is in bars, beats and frames. I would say it is very inadvisable/difficult to attempt to sync to a video at this stage!*
To use the timeline with a music file you should attempt to find out the tempo before you import it, set the timeline’s tempo to match. After the music file is on the timeline adjust the start position so it lines up.
Hope this helps!
Seb
* if you really wanna sync to video you could consider using something like Logic, importing the video, and using Logic to sync up to a midi clock, and then pass the clock through to Liberation.
