It was a big day. Took two steps forward with some things and a one step back elsewhere. I scored a second party fogger with a wired remote for dirt cheap. Turns out I forgot a laser power cable I needed. Had to chop a fogger power cable to get third laser running. I figured out how to get my stands really high. I modded them with patio umbrella extension’s. Check out my ghastly cabling and taping photos. They are ratchet strapped to the trees. I was able to get fixtures back 15-25ft. I used pvc pipe I found for the centre fixture.
Video is me trying to capture my timeline from some different angles. This is the first timeline song I’ve made. It’s the same bpm as the audio. Don’t hate. The end is just some stitched together clips.
I was so tired after building this, I barely could operate. Some dude visiting nearby came by with his mother - apparently they used to possess where I am now. Decided to just start hanging out right as I fired up. Mom decided to just sit down and be all nostalgic. Son wanted a laser show. That stuff really can throw you off.
I have one fogger sitting on a ladder for this session. Hanging the fog is certainly an option but as I had to learn that using a timer remote ( as opposed to the manual trigger one) is that the machine has about 20 big puffs before it’s need to be refilled. If I perch them, refilling them is going to be a real pain once it’s pitch black and my energy levels are low. Wind gusts are so unpredictable. Fog is amongst the biggest challenge for me doing this outdoors. The solution to most problems is to spend more money but even if it had a pro fogger, high winds will supersede. Canvas stuff is next to tackle, as it doesn’t need fog. Now I need to find a flatter projection surface.
Sounds like you’re battling nature
I like projecting on bunched up chicken wire. It’s wind resistent, but doesn’t scale to forest-scale unfortunately… maybe mosquito netting or something like that would work.
This looks awesome! I will probably borrow the idea in the future!
I do have more clearing in the back with brush where I can project. I’ll be going back out next week for a few days where I’m going to be able to flex proper and try some different fixture configurations and programming. I’ll post again with commentary, I’m sure.
