For now unfortunately you’d have to bake all the effects into your clips instead of using some kind of global/clip-wide automation.
I can’t wait for when automation and effects like you’re describing will be implemented, as I think this would be a huge leap for making cool timeline shows intuitively/relatively quickly (instead of duplicating lots of clips or using complex node structure inside of clips to get the desired results of transforming into other shapes etc). I think Seb has confirmed that it’s definitely something that will be implemented in the future.
If you’re comfortable with DAW’s/MIDI routing, I think theres a workaround by externally modulating parameters through MIDI, but I don’t have experience with it unfortunately
