Timeline parameter automation? (DAW style like ableton/fl studio etc)

Hi Guys/Seb!

First of all, just had my first show with my two 3W lasers at a small indoor festival organized by friends. Liberation worked like a charm, amazing!! so satisfying to finally awe at lasers and playing with it live myself.

I want to dig into timeline editing a bit more, to experiment with my own music.
I’m familiar with ableton/DAWs in general; I really like the way you can easily automate parameters in them. Will we see this style of automation in Liberation as well? → drawing automation lines over time in order to automatically in/de-crease the value of -for instance- the blanking slider, without recording you doing it yourself with an APC?

Maybe this is something that exists in liberation already, that I’m missing? Would love to hear about this. Cheers!!!

Congrats! I love to hear it

Absolutely. As you can probably imagine it’s quite a lot of work, which is why it’s not there already! But it’s always been part of the vision and we’ll get there eventually. In the meantime you’ll need to bake your animations into the clips themselves, or else you can use the MIDI send/receive system to record some of the parameter changes into a DAW (although this is advanced and gets fiddly)

I’m so glad you’re enjoying Liberation so far, and this is just the start, lots more to come

Does that work for clips with the Parameter node, or does this still only works for effects as stated in the tooltip? I could really use macros, so using a DAW might be the solution.

Only effects currently - Parameter nodes aren’t included in MIDI send/receive yet.

There’s a bit more detail in the manual here if it helps:

I definitely hear you on wanting more flexible control - it’s all part of the long-term plan, even if it’s still a bit limited for now.
