APC-40 overlay

It’s just a printout in a plastic sleeve. You can see the lights behind the white squares illuminated and lineup very well. Id say don’t bother cutting the squares if you do a plastic cover. Enough light should pass through, including the encoders through black ink. I think the one modification I would do to the last thing I posted is I’d probably size down the circles where the encoder are. I made the text too large so I would scale that stuff down but when you look at the holes, I made it with a circle cutter first but I realized after when I got a cutting board is that it’s easier just to spin the document and hold the blade in place and I did that with the scroll encoder and it’s it’s very clean. Lastly, the plastic over the groups, I put a piece of scotch tape and now you can label it or fade times. Sorry about the bad penmanship. Cheers.

Anyone else make anything? Please share if yes. On another note, Ive been dabbling with XR glasses. You can float the clip deck above the apc for an HUD. I think the current shortcomings of most xr glasses is poor anchoring. I can superimpose animations on top of APC keys. I wish apc pads were larger and square for a seamless experience - standing-by for a less janky experience.

Add- I threw a clip deck printout on APC. It masks brightness and if you notice the left side page had black printing of the back. You could customize some shapes heck even a text label, just print it backwards on the backside. This may be a way to write effect name on the toggle button . If you use a consistent paging layout ( denote retrig clips, custom fade time, etc) this may a big step in finding our ideal solution.

I found this online that i can use to try and cut vinyl with…

i need to find someone who can print vinyl though.. working on that

that’s cool but my advice would be :

  • Get rid of the divisions between the buttons - they’re really fiddly to get in line and unnecessary.
  • add an additional cutout for the rotaries for the LED lights, otherwise the vinyl will cover them up.

Vinyl printers should be very common in most towns and cities.

Good luck!

Seb

I had looked getting a white decal to write on. But reached out to Styleflip and they have a link to make a custom decal. I reckon we could get a community discount if we made a bulk order or get them just to have a Liberation design. Akai APC-40 MK2 Skin, Decals, Covers & Stickers. I have seen these before

but in the editor i am unable to change the texts, only color of the text

i want to change the texts so they act as a reference guide

Hi Stijn, the Photoshop template has been modified so that others can’t use it, but if you open it in a free graphics software like Affinity, you can create your own artwork and hide the other layers. So can make it say or look however you like, which I think is likely going to be a lot less work than trying to make it on your own, just an option.

Updated gaff + neon sharpie.

Changed yellow tape and orange sharpie to pink tape and blue neon sharpie for contrast. Also put color override on each.
