Oscillator with different selectable shapes

im really loving modulating and mutating text with liberation!

i think a really useful feature for me, and hopefully others too, is to be able to use an oscillator in the clip editor that has multilpe waveshapes, so you can use a slider (or modulation input) to select from the basic shapes like sine, ramp, triangle, square. sometimes i want to audition different oscillators into the same input of an effect, and its very tedious to keep adding different oscillator shapes because i have to retype in all the settings of the previous one that i dialed in every time i add a new oscillator shape.

this feature, and being able to send multiple cables from the same oscillator (or use a “multiple” module) would be an incredible boost in workflow !

In the meantime, you’ve pretty much described the custom Oscillator. I just did a quick and dirty for a visual, but you can can make a long cycle with 2 bars of each wave type and let it loop. Although this device takes a bit of trial and error it really has a payoff when you get a grip. Save this clip to a timeline called “custom clips” and next time you start a sesh cold, it’ll will be ready to add so you don’t have to start over.

So the idea is I would use this, and watch it loop, when I see the shape I like I would then edit the shape so it’s just that one shape and not changing every couple bars?

That’s cool, and thank you for showing me (I will try this today) but it is still a bit fiddly, I would still prefer in the future clicking a button or turning a knob/slider to instantly see a different shape, like most of the basic oscillators in hardware and software work.

My other suggestions is to use the clamp on the triangle oscillator. You can easily sculp triangle, sine and square. Can’t seem to get saw though. 3/4 isn’t bad.

that is pretty nice! i’m gonna do this right now, thanks for this clever tip
