Hi Seb
I have a new laptop running windows 11. Ive downloaded 0.9.5. With Windows defender / antivirus running I still get the challenge. Ive ‘run anyway’ however 0.9.5 opened up once, then shut down. On inspection the .exe has been deleted, and no Liberation icon produced.
Oh no! It sounds like Windows Defender initially allowed Liberation 0.9.5 to launch, but then removed the .exe shortly after. Sounds like a false positive.
Could you please check the Protection History in Windows Security? I can then forward the details to microsoft.
Open Windows Security (you can find it by searching “Windows Security” from the Start menu).
Go to Virus & Threat Protection ➔ Protection History.
Look for any recent actions related to Liberation — something about blocking, quarantining, or removing the .exe.
If you find an entry, please let me know what it says — it often gives a description, like for example “Trojan:Win32/Wacatac.B!ml” or similar.
You can click into the entry and choose Allow or Restore to recover the `.exe** if you like.
Getting the exact description would really help — it will allow me to submit a report to Microsoft and help clear the false positive for future builds.
Thank you! I’ve fixed the issue and emailed you a fixed project. I love when it’s easy to catch these issues. Liberation gets a little bit better every time - keep em coming!
Woa, that was quick!
I confirm that the project you sent me back is okay.
Side note: when I upgrade to a new version I loose older laser presets (settings and colour) that are not currently in use.
I think that yesterday you said that you changed the way settings are carried over now, but just to be sure this is what I mean:
Yes from now on all of those presets should be saved along with the laser settings files (ofxl) and the project files (lprj). But if you exported the project from an older version they won’t be included.
A workaround is to manually add those presets into your working folder. Which on Mac is :
You’ll see an ofxLaser folder in there, and inside that are the colourpresets and scannerpresets folders. You can just add your preset files from your older version into this new folder and Liberation should pick them up.
Older versions of Liberation stored the working folder in : ~/Documents/Liberation/0.x.x/data/
