I’m a new user. Hobby 2 license.
This may have been a topic, so sorry, but I couldn’t find it.
I activated the license for the MacBookPro.
I use this for concerts, AbletonLive, QSC+, Liberation, etc.
I work with a MacPro in the studio.
Is it possible to write the laser show on the MacPro, so that the lasers are also connected to it and I can see it? In the meantime, I will remove the license from the MacBook and activate it on the MacPro.
Or do I need higher permissions for this? The Pro8?
What happens if I change MacBooks?
Thanks for the answers.
You can design shows and load and save them without restrictions on as many computers as you like. But you can only output to lasers on the machines you have authorised on your licence.
The Hobby licence is not designed for professional use, so it allows one authorised computer at a time. If you want to move between your MacBook Pro and your MacPro, you’ll need to deauthorise Liberation on one machine and then authorise it on the other.
The Pro 8 tier allows two authorised machines at the same time. This is intended so you can have a show machine and a backup machine ready to go, rather than needing to move the licence in the middle of a show, but this would work well in your situation as well.
If you did want to stick with the Hobby tier, moving licences between machines is reasonably easy, as long as you have access to both machines. The instructions are here: Authorising and de-authorising | Liberation User Manual You do need to be connected to the internet when authorising or deauthorising.
In some situations it’s also possible to remotely deauthorise a computer, there’s more information about that in the same user guide page.
If you change MacBooks in the future, the process is exactly the same - deauthorise the old machine and authorise the new one.
