Considering the gig you are doing has no trussing to hang projectors from… Curious on what you are using to stand your lasers on… I currently have a couple of cheap C-Stands off of Amazon and they do okay… looking for some other solid options.
Heya, I use the Varytec Wind up 85kg stands from Thomann.de
They have a wide stable footprint, can be raised to 4.1m and can carry an impressive 85kg. I use them both with T bars and truss. If you’re not planning to go as high or as heavy a load then you can definitely get lighter stands. I’ve use many tripods over the years and these are reassuring weight for stability and from experience can take quite the knock without topping over. Only down side is they may be a bit big and weighty for the smaller gigs.
Edit: Just to state I have overloaded them on a few occasions trialling setups with video walls and truss and they didn’t bad an eyelid. I deffo think the 85kg SWL is before the 3:1 safety margin, whereas with the lighter stands its SWL including the ratio as some of them didnt inspire much confidence with even half their rated load.
My wench up stand is solid as a rock when all screwed down. I’ve not tested it fully wenched up, but it’s heavy and cumbersome, which is a plus for stability. Recently got the Chauvet Flextstands, which are still heaps more solid than my cheap tripod style speaker stands, but not as solid as the wench up. Significantly easier to transport and deal with solo. Gravity also make a similar stand to the Chauvet, but if you go that route, make sure you don’t buy the mini version.
My main concern was getting something that won’t move if accidentally bumped so that my zones stay safely in place. I’m just doing this as a hobby, so your needs might be different.
