Hi, I’m looking for answers so I come to you. I would like to buy Ether dreams. But how do I wire them? With a network switch? Thanks
PN
Hi @Pierre
Yes you can use a standard network switch to connect all your Ether Dreams to the network. I would also advise that you use a router* - it can be plugged in anywhere on the network.
I use this router : https://amzn.to/3XSH4az
And these switches : https://amzn.to/4dfjWHY
But honestly any standard router or switch would be fine.
cheers!

*(If you don’t use a router you need to give your Ether Dreams and your computer fixed IP addresses, I would only do this if you’re comfortable with networking and never share your Ether Dreams with anyone else.)
Thanks Seb. Yes I am comfortable with network configuration. I am basically a sound engineer, we use a lot of digital audio network in the industry. Thanks for your answer! See you soon
OK great!
Something to watch out for - If you’re using fixed IP addresses, and you can see the Ether Dreams, but can’t connect to them, it’s usually because your computer IP address isn’t set up properly.
cheers!

Thanks Seb. I only have a Helios Dac at the moment so I’ll try that later. But how do you configure a fixed IP on the ether box? Do they have a base address on which we access the portal in order to change the base IP?

That’s whats on the etherdream website… although i’ve never tried it with mine to be honest
It’s a slightly cumbersome process that requires USB access so is difficult once it’s inside a laser. It’s one of the reasons I advise using a router with DHCP ![]()
Yes I think it’s good like that. Thank you
