I haven’t connected my EtherDream to Liberation for a while since downloading the latest version, 0.9.9. My EtherDream is connected to the network and shows a green light on my Mac. However, I cannot see it in the controller assignment. I’ve tried refreshing, but any help would be appreciated.
Hi James,
Could you clarify what you mean by “shows a green light on my Mac”? If in Liberation you’re seeing a laser with a green square next to it in the Laser Overview or Controller Assignment panel, that actually means it’s already connected and ready to go - which is a good sign.
In the Controller Assignment panel, lasers are listed on the left with their associated controllers, and only controllers that haven’t been assigned yet will appear on the right. Once the Ether Dream is assigned, it moves to one of the lasers on the left and will show a green square “light” when it’s connected. It’ll only appear on the right if it’s still waiting to be assigned.
You can also find more detail in the manual here: docs.liberationlaser.com/setting-up/controller-assignment.
If you’re genuinely not seeing the Ether Dream at all (no green squares anywhere), then we’ll move on to some network troubleshooting to get it discovered.
If you’d like, feel free to upload a screenshot of the green light so I can see exactly what you’re referring to.

Hiya James,
Two things that might help that have helped me.
1.) Since you’re on a mac, temporarily disable your wifi when you first start Liberation OR change your network service order to have your ethernet card be the primary network device
2.) Make sure your subnet mask is set correctly if you use static IP addresses.
hope that helps.
Thanks, Seb and Dustin, now sorted. It was a network issue thanks as always
