New Mac Book Crashing on quit

Hi Seb, I wanted to document an issue I’m experiencing. I have a new 2025 MacBook Air with an M4 chip, and when I exit Liberation, I encounter a spinning wheel followed by a log report to Apple. Fortunately, this issue isn’t affecting any other functionality. Just thought I would be worth logging with you, Best James

Hi James,

Thanks for taking the time to log this, I really appreciate it.

Please could you include the exact version number of Liberation when reporting bugs? It really helps me track down whether something has already been addressed in a newer build.

I’ve been actively chasing down shutdown-related crashes. I’m hoping they’re greatly improved in the latest build, so if you’re not already on that version it would definitely be worth updating and testing again.

If it’s still happening on the newest version, let me know and I’ll dig further.

Thanks again for reporting it :+1:

Seb

Hello Seb 1.0.3 build 4, I have now downloaded build 5, will feed back also, to say loving DMX using to run starburst and wireless to Hazers ,….sweet

Downloaded 1.0.3 build 5 still crashes on quit. Also, when I go to full screen on Mac (Green dot top left) and then trigger a clip, it will trigger the one below and will not close some functions, including all top-screen tabs in Liberation. I have to exit full screen, it will operate with full and normal functionality weird

What’s the temperature like when working with Liberation? I am very interested in the new MacBook Air M5 when it comes out.

Hi James,

Thanks again for the detailed feedback - that fullscreen behaviour is particularly interesting, so I definitely want to reproduce that here.

Could you send me a bit more system info:

  • Exact macOS version
  • RAM amount in the M4 Air
  • Whether you’re using any external displays
  • Any controllers or MIDI devices connected when quitting

Before sending the working folder, could you please:

  1. Go to liberation ->Settings and turn on logging.
  2. Make the crash happen (both quit crash and fullscreen issue).
  3. Then zip up the working folder immediately afterwards.

That way the logs will contain the relevant crash information.

Instructions for finding the working folder are here:

Once zipped, please email it to support@liberationlaser.com.

Thanks again for taking the time to report this properly - it really helps.

Seb
