I’m libby from Australia based in London/Glasgow. We both have a music, theatre and art installations and lighting. My partner has a lot more experience than me in lighting and lasers than me but I’m really excited to learn and have found Liberation quite intuitive! My partner and I got our hands on 2 beautiful 4watt lasers (I actually haven’t found the make yet. Embarrassingly) We’re looking to use them for clubs, art installations and dance theatre. Any tips or suggestions for Liberation/safety courses/need to know things/meet ups etc would be amazing! X
Re safety training, I highly recommend LVR’s laser safety workshop : Laser safety training for laser light show operators | LVR Optical It looks like the next one isn’t until next year but if enough people here would like one I could ask them to run a course especially.
I’m planning on setting up some Liberation training but that will also be next year - I’ll be happy to answer any more laser / liberation related questions in the meantime.
Often cheap lasers can be pretty anonymous, post some pictures maybe?
That’s amazing thank you so much. That course looks amazing. We got these two off the lovely James Russel.
One thing I’ve not quite manage to get my head around is the SVG importing. I was hoping to create my own simple images to be converted into SVG images then onto Liberation. Is this doable?
Thank you for the support and making the software it’s amazing x
This is the PD3 series by Shenzen OPTlaser. If it’s 4W, the model is PD4000-RGB (slightly older) or PD4000A-RGB (newer 2023 model). https://www.optlaser.com/pd3_series/
I have a pair of PD5000-RGB and plan to pickup a couple more plus a couple 10W PR6 series. My only gripe so far is the interlock is not daisy-chainable in the PD3 series. Make sure you have your SFS switch in the “up” position. The manual doesn’t talk about this feature, but it’s a scan fail system which is rather unstable in my experience.
It’s all direct through salespeople. I was referred by another customer to Crystal Wu (crystal@optlaser.com). My PD5000-RGB projectors were $815 each with mechanical shutters and plastic cases plus another $30 each for a pair of their e-stops and $160 for shipping to the US (NJ).
