[Broken out of original thread Record to timeline?]
But then im pretty much just relying on pressing start at the right time… Not a huge fan of that. I’ve got the lists organized by DJ though

Oh hey just thought I’d chip in ![]()
I probably wouldn’t use the send/receive MIDI system for this, it’s a legacy system and is kinda complicated.
So use the Liberation timeline and make a different timeline for each DJ track, and have them set to different timecode offsets, then the timeline will automatically trigger and come on for each one.
That way it doesn’t matter which order the tracks are played in, Liberation will sync to each one.
The rest of the time you can turn off the timeline and switch to Live tempo (or MIDI clock) and busk live.
Hope this helps!

That is exactly what I’m looking to do ![]()
How do i have them set to timecode offsets? I’m using Beat-Link-Trigger or ShowKontrol. Been trying to figure this out
On the Timecode page see item 4 in Setting up in Liberation.
But this is still relying on the track being played on a schedule/set. I am just trying to trigger said timeline whenever the track is cued. I have no idea if it’ll be 10minutes or 40 minutes in.
Can a timeline be set to a midi channel? I know its not the best route but temporarily I could have Beat-Link-Trigger send a Midi note when it sees the song being played on ProLINK.
From the manual :
It’s a common convention in the touring world to have each song start at a different hour ie 01:00:00:00 for the first song, 02:00:00:00 for the second song and so on.
Liberation will automatically switch to the timeline dependent on the timecode, so you never need to manually change timelines during a show.
Perhaps it’s not clear from that description is that the songs then do not to be played in the same order. So ask your DJ to set the timecode offset for the tracks that you want to design specific shows for. And then when those timecode positions come in Liberation will automatically switch to that track, no matter which order they are played in.
hope this helps!

I always get completely confused trying to set up loopback so I suspect there’s something wrong there. Certainly from the Liberation side the only thing to set up is which audio device and channel the timecode is coming in on!
FYI if Liberation is picking up valid LTC audio the red square next to the Audio device drop down will turn green.

Ok, that would make sense because I know ShowKontrol pretty well, and like you said Liberation is somewhat simple. Clueless about loopback though.
I recall reading it would go green in the docs so im still trying to figure it out. I’ll have to report back
I am happy to report I finally got it working. The issue was SMTPE routing, not really sure how I fixed it but just kept messing around and found LoopBack to be the best.
I now have it triggering timelines.
My next goal here is to figure out how to trigger autoscripted tracks in SoundSwitch to bring this all together. In talks with SS developers to implement offsets to auto scripted track variables. If anyone needs help feel free to reach out, I appreciate all the help I received.
Hello, Having a similar problem except I’m on windows. I have the LTC signal running through virtual cable and I verified the LTC signal is working with TimeCode Monitor but after selecting the virtual cable as my timecode audio device on Liberation, there is no trigger and the box next to the audio device remains red, has not turned green. Frame rate is set to 30 on everything. Any help would be appreciated, I also made a separate forum post waiting on approval, I’ve checked all of the timecode and LTC forum posts lol. I feel like I’m very close to solving this but not sure what’s left.
